I love when the staff tries to get organized. As far as I'm concerned, the more crap to lay on, the better.
P.S. don't forget to submit your favorite organization to be our May beneficiary. Leave a comment below. We've raised nearly $2K for Kitten Rescue. Meow!

It's time to choose our May recipient!
We're close to wrapping up another successful month of our FURPOWER $1 Donation Challenge. GREAT job raising money this month for Kitten Rescue. The grand total will be close to $2,000 including on and off-line donations. THANK YOU!
Now it's time to select another organization to help in May.
Please comment below with the name of the rescue organization you'd like to submit into our drawing. The organizations must: be a U.S. organization, a designated 501c3 non-profit and include cats in its efforts.
Also, to be fair I can't accept "anonymous" submissions so please leave your name OR email me at romeo at romeothecat dot com with your submission.
We'll be taking submissions until April 30, 9 p.m. EST and doing our random drawing and announcing the winner on Friday May 1.
Here's how to increase the chances of your favorite being selected:
1. Tell your friends to come here and comment! The more submissions for your organization, the better chance you have of winning.
2. Subscribe to this blog and leave an additional comment telling me you did!
3. Tweet about this campaign and leave a comment telling me you did (with your twitter handle).
4. Blog about this on your blog! And leave a comment linking to your post.
Pugs and I can't wait to help another hardworking, deserving organization!
Email me with questions at romeo at romeothecat dot com.

And the winner is.....
Congratulations, Madison and her staff, Cindy, winners of the “Who’s your Favorite Furball?” contest in honor of today, National Hairball Awareness Day. Madison will receive a FURminator DeShedding Tool, courtesy of FURminator, Inc. to keep her coat beautiful and hairballs to a minimum.
Here was Cindy’s entry:
"My favorite furball’s name is Madison. As you can see maintaining a spotless supermodel body and fur coat are hard work for the average Tabby. Madison takes her grooming incredibly seriously as she must look purrfect at all times. You never know when In Style or Vogue are going to call and she is always ready for her next close up.
However, as you can imagine nothing looks worse than a supermodel choking on yesterday’s hair. It just is not very ladylike and it makes you so embarrassed!
Madison says, 'I want the FURminator as that is the ultimate in grooming accessories and I would love to have my people use it on me every single day (when they are not fixing my dinner or scooping my box)' "
Thank you to EVERYONE who entered, donated money and supported the promotion of the contest. The rescues thank you!
xoxo,
Romeo & Pugsley

Happy Hairball Awareness Day!
In honor of today, I've dug into the archives to share with you photos of Pug and moi at our furriest. You've probably only known us when we have shorter hair because my female staff manager is allergic and unfortunately, less furry, fuzzy, fabulous fur means less stuffy nose for her. And, honestly, fewer stupid hairballs. But now that we have the FURminator Pugs and I think we might remain a little floofier.
Anyway check out the hairball prevention tips below and share with your friends! AND tune in at Noon today, EST to find out the winner of the "Who's your Favorite Furball?" contest!
It's no coincidence we're in the same wonderful nap spot. When someone finds a good new spot, the other one usually hijacks it. Who do you think does the nap spot hijacking?

Hairball Tips and Last Day to Enter Contest!
Today is the last day to enter the "Who's your Favorite Furball?" contest in honor of National Hairball Awareness Day! Winners receive a FREE FURminator DeShedding Tool and will be featured here, on www.PeoplePets.com and on blogs across the Internet! Details on how to enter here.
Now, onto the educational portion of today's post. With peak shedding season underway, we furry guys are in full swing when it comes to grooming ourselves, which means an increase in hairballs.
FURminator has offered the following tips for preventing and caring for those nasty, ooky hairballs!
1. Regular Grooming: Hairballs occur when cats over groom. To help cats look and feel their best, it’s essential to regularly brush them. The FURminator deShedding Tool for Cats is recommended by vets and nominated by Tufts University School of Veterinarian Medicine as the number one product to reduce hairballs in cats. Using the tool on a regular basis, as well as the FURminator deShedding Shampoo for Cats, will help reduce shedding, thus reducing the amount of hair your cat ingests.
2. Home Remedies: Try adding a little butter and canned pumpkin to your cat’s meals once or twice a week. The butter may loosen the hair clod and the fiber in the pumpkin can help move it through the system.
3. Stay Hydrated: Encourage your cat to drink plenty of water by placing various bowls throughout the house. The water will help flush out the hair before it has time to clump in the stomach.
4. Consult Your Vet: If you believe you cat has chronic hairball problems, ask your veterinarian to recommend a laxative supplement to help prevent ingested hairs from forming hairballs.
The photo above is me getting FURminated by my male staff member. This was just at the beginning of the process too! Hooray for hairball reduction!

We're Two Wild and Crazy Cats!
The nice people at Cardinal Laboratories sent Pugs and me the most AH-mazing toy called the Crazy Cat Cat Quest. OMG is it fun!
This uh, crazy toy is a whirring, buzzing, zipping dragonfly bug thing attached to the end of a string attached to a wand. Pugsley and I thought it was a real bug but the female staff manager said that it was battery operated and she was making its wings flap and go buzz by pushing a button on the handle of the wand. Really?!
Like I said, PUGS thought it was a real bug. I knew it wasn’t.
Real bug or not, we had lots and lots of fun jumping around, running through the house and playing with it. The staff couldn't stop laughing. I think they were laughing with us, not at us though.
One of the best things about the Crazy Cat Cat Quest to me personally is that it's not a real bug! Real bugs kinda scare me a little bit sometimes.
Shh, don't tell.
If you want your own Cat Quest, you can get one at the Crazy Cat Web site. But tell your staff to beware: it's addicting!
Pugs and I check this thing out.
Look! Pug caught him! Go Pug!

Fundraising is hard work!
Whew. It's only April 6 and we've raised MORE THAN 110 percent of our monthly FURPOWER goal for Kitten Rescue. We've blown this month's goal right out of the water bowl!
The pawpawty was a great success. Thank you, Brewskie Butt, for dedicating your birthday party to our cause.
Now remember: to make this month's FURPOWER challenge even more fun, if you make any amount of donation you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a beautiful piece of artwork titled, "This Brew's for You!" by BZTAT, AKA Vicki Boatright, AKA Brewskie Butt's mom. Check out this very talented artist's work here: http://artadventuresstudios.com .
Okay, it's been a loooooong day. Pugs and I are going to catch some z's. Thanks everyone for your ongoing support!

Get Ready to PAWTY
Pugs and I want to share with you an exciting event happening on Twitter on Sunday, April 5.
Hundreds of pets will be meeting on Twitter to virtually celebrate our friend Brewskie Butt's birthday (that's him to the left), whoop it up with their pals, win prizes and raise money.
The Twitter community’s second “pawpawty” is in honor of popular Twitter cat, @brewskiebutt, who turned five on April 1.
The pawpawty is not just about fun and games, however. The event will also raise funds for my FURPOWER Donation Challenge. Thanks, Brew!
So how exactly does a party on Twitter work? Those participating in the pawpawty end their tweets with “#pawpawty.” Partiers can then follow all of the Twitter comments designated with #pawpawty using Twitter search functionality or by following this link: http://tweetgrid.com/search?q=pawpawty
The #pawpawty will run for 24 hours, from 2 p.m. EDT Sunday April 5 to 2 p.m. EDT Monday, April 6, giving animals all over the world a chance to participate. The organizers have collected more than 50 “door prizes” that they’ll be giving away throughout the party.
Each #pawpawty has a virtual location at which the animals gather. Since the real Brewskie Butt (known as the Brew) lives in the trendy Canton Arts District, his neighborhood has been chosen as the virtual location of his Birthday Pawpawty. His staff Vicki Boatright’s website, http://www.artadventuresstudios.com will be redesigned as a gateway to the Canton Arts District in order to introduce the world to the Brew’s community.
Interested twitterers should follow organizers: @brewskiebutt, @emmythecat, @romeothecat, @duke_richard_II, @oscarthecat and @frugaldougal for ongoing details or visit http://frugaldougaldog.blogspot.com.

April FURPOWER Recipient - Kitten Rescue!
WOW. I'm blown away by the number of submissions we received. You guys sure are a passionate bunch.
I'm excited to announce this month's FURPOWER recipient is Kitten Rescue of Los Angeles!
First of all, I just learned that Kitten Rescue has recently started helping dogs too so all you woofers out there, don't you worry! Your brothers and sisters are included too.
Kitten Rescue is devoted to rescuing cats and kittens from the streets and shelter euthanasia. Approximately eighty percent of our cats are rescued from the Los Angeles City shelters at the "11th hour" right before they are scheduled to be euthanized.
Kitten Rescue also works with the surrounding communities to rescue strays and abandoned cats, and facilitates Trap/Spay-Neuter/Release (TNR) assistance throughout these communities. Kitten Rescue is equally dedicated to educating the public about responsible pet ownership, care of kittens and cats, managing feral cats and most importantly, the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes this educational material available via events, print, school presentations and their Web site.
Congratulations. We're looking forward to another amazing month of raising money for animals in need. Also, lots of fun parties, contests and giveaways are planned, so stay tuned. In fact, be sure to sign up to follow us so you don't miss a thing! (scroll down the right hand side to the "Romeo's Followers" section and click "follow.")
GO FURPOWER!
xo,
Romeo and Pugsley
P.S. I couldn't resist posting this adorable photo from KR's Web site.
